The WP4 and WP5 Workshop of the ENERGIC OD Project was held on February 5 and 6, 2015 at the CNR-IIA Division of Florence (Italy). The meeting was co-chaired by Raffaella Brumana as far as concerns Work package 4 and Paolo Mazzetti for Work package 5.
This two-days meeting aimed to discuss the Virtual Hub concept, how the VHs may be implemented in ENERGIC-OD and how they can be demonstrated through a set of applications. The meeting set up the stage for the work of month 5-12 for VH architecture and requirements.
The first session focused on the vision of the Virtual Hub as a system facilitating the use of the geoinformation. As an example of enabling technologies showingsome of the VH concepts, and as a follow-on of the KO side meeting, the discovery and access broker were presented. An open discussion was started to clarify the VH architecture. The second session focused on the definition of requirements for the VH, in particular for interoperability and integration of multi-source open data.The coordination between WP4, WP5 and WP6 was also defined.
The second day was dedicated to the analysis of applications and how they should and could be developed using the Virtual Hubs. Proposed applications were discussed and analyzed, and a hands-on session was set up. The presentation of the applications by the partner were made to evidence potentials of the VH, limits and critical aspects and how they could be solved.
